Locus-Flower Ball Comments

  1. Flower Ball calls to mind the Guggenheim Museum interior and a glass marble. One enters Flower Ball, literally, a large orange-pink ball in the sky, and may look up (or down) through layers of flower for a striking art experience. Likewise does a visitor to the Guggenheim experience layers of art or view the interior staircase as an art work by standing at the bottom and looking up.

Not only is Flower Ball defined by its visual structure, but it also has a musical component. In contrast to flat flowers, the music creates a space around a visitor, as when the visitor leaves the space he or she cannot hear the music.

In this installation, a fiery orange ball, reminiscent of the sun, contains bright and colorful flowers within it. Thus, as in RL, the sun is a womb that gives life to nature.

  2. The flower ball by far was my favorite place in all of SL so far. I felt as if i was in an entirely new and creative world. I can draw inspiration from the space and sit in entire awe as the vibrant colors rotate around and continuously change. The atmosphere is fun and clever in the non realistic space of the sphere. It is like being on a colorful ride in many levels. It was also interesting that they gave instructions to fly to and through the space. Energy of light and movement is shown and heard with great music playing only directly in the ball and the coloration and themes inside.

  3. I enjoyed the flower ball. I found that it's vibrant and shifting colors were nicely accented by the subtle music. I also found in interesting that you had to fly through the entire space and were unable to walk at all. It made me feel like I was a bee in a flower. It was not realistic at all but instead was an interesting way to play with graphics.
