Next Class discussion

Please read this blog for the next class discussion. Be sue to start with the welcome for the description of the project:

Performance Artist Blog

This artist's avatar in SL is activated by his own body walking 240 miles on a treadmill.

From His Website:
Over the course of 26 days, using a treadmill customized for cyberspace, I reenacted Mahatma Gandhi's famous 1930 Salt March. The original 240-mile walk was made in protest of the British salt tax; my update of this seminal protest march took place at Eyebeam and in Second Life, the Internet-based virtual world. For this performance, I walked the entire 240 miles of the original march on a converted treadmill at Eyebeam in New York City and online in Second Life. My steps on the treadmill controlled the forward movement of my avatar, MGandhi Chakrabarti, enabling the live and virtual reenactment of the march.

Assignment Due April 21 before 3:15PM Eastern

This assignment is due Tuesday, April 21 before 3:15PM Eastern. This will allow VJ and I to go over them before the class meets on Wed., April 22.

AM Radio

AM Radio is an artist in Second Life. We want you to visit three of his installations. Pace yourselves as these are not quick-trip, in-out pieces of art.

In the comments section of this post and while referencing all three of the works, write about:

  • personal critique overall - likes, dislikes
  • navigation
  • passive/interactive
Include at least one thing that caught your eye or you noticed or that your classmates might have missed.

You need to write enough to properly cover the above. Please make sure you don't write too little.

The artworks of AM Radio that you are to visit are:
